Canadian and US universities, especially the elite schools, are undergoing a crisis. Not only are Jewish students encountering blatant antisemitism, especially since the start of the Israel-Gaza war, but the academic credibility of the institutions themselves is being questioned as classical liberal values have been replaced by “wokeism.” Subsequently, standards have been lowered, while DEI ideologies have infiltrated every aspect of the sciences—social, physical, and applied.
Through a series of webinars, the CIJR will focus on various aspects of this pressing issue that is altering society’s perception of reality and the direction we, as a society, are headed unless dramatic changes halt the rapid decline of our institutions of higher learning.
We are striving to answer the question:
Can Our Universities Be Saved?
In this first webinar of our series, noted anthropologist and author Prof. Elizabeth Weiss will share her experience at San José State University and describe how her scientific research was abruptly halted when the nature of her work directly conflicted with the prevailing woke ideology. She will also discuss postmodernism, victim narratives, the loss of academic freedom, and changes in the university over the last two decades: from political correctness to wokeism.
