As we mark Jewish American Heritage Month, AZM is proud of the historic role American Zionists played 80 years ago in advancing Zionism and pushing for the creation of the modern State of Israel.

On May 11, 1942 the famous Biltmore Conference concluded in New York City, gathering 600 Zionist leaders from the United States and many other nations. Chaim Weizmann and David Ben-Gurion addressed the assembly, which was convened by the Emergency Committee for Zionist Affairs, the forerunner of AZM.

The concluding Biltmore Declaration, issued eighty years ago today, called for “fulfillment of the original purpose of the Balfour Declaration” to form the Jewish Commonwealth, now the modern State of Israel, in the land of Israel, then under the British Mandate. Learn more at: azm.org/biltmore
